Muncie Mini Report
Yesterday I ran my first mini-marathon in Muncie! I am happy to report that today I wasn’t limping and actually am feeling really good. The morning ended up being perfect weather wise. As much as I whined about the cold weather all week, it felt nice running in the cool sunny morning and by mile 6 I had shed off my mittens and outer layer. I ran half of the race with my good friend/former roomie, Christin Easterhaus. Two college friends, Erin Crandall and Leandra Phillips, were also there cheering us on. It was a huge motivator knowing I would see them 4 times on the course. Andy and Avery stayed in Ft.Wayne since Muncie is over a hour away and I went down the night before to hang out with my college friends, but they both gave me congratulatory hugs and kisses when I got home.
For it being Muncie’s first mini, they hosted a nice race. My only BIG complaint was that the last 2 miles weren’t marked so you really had no idea the race was over until you rounded a corner and there was the finish line. Oh well, I ran my goal time and felt strong the whole race. I’m sure my former high school track & cross-country coach would be proud to know I’m still running!
I have to admit running a race like that is pretty inspirational, especially when you see people of all shapes and ages. It was cool seeing other people running for causes too. I might still be on sort of a runner’s high, but I am already thinking about when I can do my next one. If only the training didn’t take so much time! Yesterday and today I’ve “rewarded” myself by eating lots of carbs- Olive Garden with the girls in Muncie after the race and pizza today.
I was proud to run for Team Neighborlink yesterday and hope others are encouraged to run for a cause too, or do something with your time, resources and bodies even if 13 miles isn’t possible.
I want to dedicate this post to my sister who will be completely shocked that I have posted twice in just a few days. Yes, what is this world coming to? I ran a mini (finally!) and am blogging. What will I do this week?!
Thanks for all of the encouragement!
